At present that Google Banana is now available on the Pixel C, when I try to train my voice, I always go: Trouble with microphone. Try again in a few seconds.

Everyone is having the same consequence?

Android 8.ane Stock with the Google App 7.17.28.21

Yeah, sadly I retrieve it'due south because the Pixel C all the same doesn't have Google Banana, equally evidenced by the "Screen Search" option and lack of a "Google Assistant" option. To farther back this position, Google's official statement announcing Assistant for tablets but mentioned Marshmallow and Nougat.

Yeah, I have this problem. Google app update wanted to initially train my voice for "Hey Google" and and then flashes up a screen for a micro-2d equally though to go through the set up-upwards and and then a toast mistake Trouble with Microphone.

Besides Google Assistant isn't available. The roll-out of Assistant is simply for US English language at the moment and I don't think this app update was achieving that.

Same here. I'd been using the build.prop edit, and it was working great for months. Recently I started getting this wink of a screen for a micro-2d (like m+a+r+k). And then I tried toggling the setting off and dorsum on. Now I cannot re-enable the "OK Google" voice detection at all, and it says "non available for this language" (English-U.s.a.). And so I did a factory reset, re-configured everything, and tried enabling it... Nope. All the same grayed out.

And so I disabled the build.prop edit (set information technology back to false), and rebooted once again. This fourth dimension I tried something a little dissimilar, I tried changing the linguistic communication settings to "English language-Generic". Going back into the "OK Google" detection screen, I tin at present toggle information technology on, and train my vocalisation.

Then rather than train it without the "Hey Google" choice, I idea I'd skip that and re-enable Google Assistant through the build.prop edit. Going back into that setting, it's grayed out again. So I toggled dorsum and along from English language-The states and English-Generic, but if Google Assistant is enabled, they forcibly disable the "OK Google" detection, even though the device is clearly capable and compatible, since I've been using it this way for a yr now....

Anybody got whatsoever ideas? Peradventure some ADB commands to toggle some settings nosotros don't have GUI access to?

**Edit**
After making these changes, I uninstalled the Google app (since it'south a system app, you lot only revert to the original version released with this ROM). Now I can re-train my voice, minus the "Hey Google" that this latest update includes. So, I'm turning off all auto-updates until they get this figured out. I'll only update all other apps manually.

Note for those who want to use Google Banana: It'southward actually easy now if you're rooted. But use a root file explorer (I use ES File Explorer Pro) and get to /system. Now open up the build.prop file with the editor of your option (I apply the ES Note Editor, since information technology already has root permissions), and find the line that says ro.opa.eligible_device=false, and delete the discussion false and replace information technology with true, salvage and reboot.

Note for those who want to use Google Assistant: It'due south really easy now if you're rooted. Simply utilise a root file explorer (I employ ES File Explorer Pro) and go to /system. Now open up the build.prop file with the editor of your selection (I use the ES Annotation Editor, since it already has root permissions), and find the line that says ro.opa.eligible_device=fake, and delete the discussion false and supercede it with truthful, save and reboot.

Thanks for that. Tried it and when I say "OK Google" the screen turns to portrait mode. Google Assistant will only work in Portrait style? Unbelievable!
Opened the Google app and finally got information technology to ready up "Hey Google". Then it immediately switched off 'Say "OK Google" whatever time' and 'Unlock with Voice lucifer' - both greyed out!
However Assistant is working just in Portrait manner. I knew Google didn't actually give a damn most tablets but this really is quite unbelievable.

They seem to be deliberately holding us back for some reason... I can't imagine what. But equally far equally the "Hey Google" thing, that appears to be a feature of the updated version of the Google app, and then if y'all encounter the option for "Hey Google", your options will exist grayed out. My solution is holding for at present, with applying updates manually to avoid the car-update of the Google app that deliberately sabotages us. I retrieve I tin use TitaniumBackup to break the market link of that one app, that's another choice.

Confirmed, using TitaniumBackup yous can locate the Google app and detach from the market place. In doing and then, all your other upates volition become through fine, but the sabotaging update won't even prove up.

Oh, and like you've observed, it but runs in portrait mode... That annoys me likewise.
